We finally know what FindMakarov.com is counting down to. Earlier today, Geoff Keighley of GameSlice discovered that the website is counting down to the launch of a Modern Warfare inspired project being put together by the Toronto-based media group We Can Pretend. So it’s not a hoax, it’s just not for Modern Warfare 3.
We Can Pretend created the website and mailed the dogtags to the press, which sparked buzz throughout the blogosphere, causing many to assume it was related to Modern Warfare 3. The speculation surrounding the site even prompted an official response from Activision, who indirectly called the site a hoax. The site’s countdown ends Wednesday, during the Game Developers Conference, which added to the speculation that it was related to Modern Warfare 3.
An image of the short film was sent to Geoff Keighley, which can be seen above this article. The project is described as “visually spectacular” by those involved with the production.

UPDATE:
The trailer has been released. The entire community of which we cover has turned a sort of skeptical eye on this project due to the false hope it gave us for Modern Warfare 3 details. I must say, however, this certainly made up for it. The trailer (below) is spectacular and very realistic to the game. As I said in a recent email to the studio behind this project, I have never seen any film project catch the essence of the Call of Duty storyline anywhere near as well as they have. I am rehyped for this project, and I can’t wait to hear more about it. GamingViral will continue to update this article with any news we find out, so check back. And without further distraction, here is the video:
