The gaming community can often learn a lot from a company’s job postings. For instance, a few weeks back we learned that Infinity Ward would be getting a lot of help creating the next Call of Duty game, technically the eighth in the series. Now we’re learning that Sledgehammer, a company that apparently now has a big stake in the Call of Duty series, seems to have a pretty lofty set of goals for this November’s release.

Sledgehammer Games has recently posted a listing for the job of Quality Assurance Tester for their work in the upcoming CoD game, rumored to be Modern Warfare 3. This, for one, completely confirms that Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer are working side-by-side in production of the game.

However, that’s not where the information ceases. As a job description, Sledgehammer (owned by Activision) states that the candidate would need to help sledgehammer get an average 95+ critical rating and help them create a game that will be, and I quote, “bug-free”. This is a very unlikely goal and if they could get even close to these goals, Activision will continue the trend of breaking sales records with their Call of Duty series.

Could a studio, especially one that has never released a game, live up to these? Can the gaming community even trust these statements to be remotely true after the problems that have surrounded the latest Call of Duty game, Black Ops, thus far? It will be an uphill struggle, and the fate of the entire series could currently be in their hands.

Here is the original job listing as well as details on how to apply if you are interested.
