Kotaku reader Sean discovered an imposing obelisk in his hometown of Toronto, an obelisk serving as a respectably original advertisement for Halo Reach and an image vaguely reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
While terrifying to those outside the target audience, the UNSC-branded Reach monolith does little more than blink a horrific red light at passersby and listing various Reach-and-Bungie-related URL’s. Regardless, a pretty awesome addition to Reach’s advertisement campaign. Awesome, and frightening. Check out the picture after the jump.
[UPDATE]: Apparently, according to Staff Reporter Alex, this could be related to an Xbox event in which fans will “battle Covenant troupes live using state-of-the-art weapons technology and be one of the first Canadians to get a sneak peak of Halo Reach” in Toronto and Vancouver. For more information, times and addresses for the event, see the page at Xbox.com, or follow @UNSC_INTEL on Twitter for even more events and information.
